How to Correct a Golf Slice

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

How to correct a golf slice is a question that most golfers will ask at some point in their careers. Average golfers are most likely to be affected by a slice in their swings. Here is the good news, there is hope for you to fix that slice. However, it will take a commitment to fix your swing.

First keep these four things in mind when you are on the tee getting ready to swing.

1. Use a stronger grip but do not try and strangle the club. A real weak grip will cause your wrists to break at the point of impact forcing the club face and your ball is going right guaranteed. Good luck finding your ball.

2. It sounds simple but line up properly, a lot of golfers hit the ball right because they lined up that way. Pick a target about 100 yards away that is in line with where you want to hit the ball and try to hit toward that target.

3. Check your club face alignment. When addressing the ball line the club up with the ball to make sure that the club face is square at the point of impact. If it is not adjust your setup.

4. Do not try to hit the ball with your hands. The best way to generate both power and accuracy starts with your hips and not your shoulders, arms and hands. A proper swing should start with the core of the body and not your upper body.

Keeping these four things in mind will help you right now cut down on slicing. Furthermore, learning proper swing mechanics will provide the greatest benefits to you.
